What is a prevailing wage, and why does the level matter?

A prevailing wage is the minimum salary an employer must pay for a role in a specific city, set by the U.S. Department of Labor across four levels. The level also decides lottery odds: under the wage-weighted selection first used for FY2027, a Level IV filing gets 4 entries and a Level I gets 1. Pick a role and city below.
